These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the website and tool at whenthisjobwasposted.com (the "Service"), operated as a small, independent project (the "operator", "we", "us"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
The Service is free, requires no account, and is offered to a general audience. These Terms work alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what limited data we handle.
When This Job Was Posted? takes a job-listing URL you provide and tries to estimate the real date the listing was first posted, by reading publicly available information about that page — such as structured data, applicant-tracking-system feeds, sitemaps, and public web archives. It exists to help job seekers spot listings that have been reposted or "refreshed" so they look newer than they are.
The tool runs in your browser. When you check a URL, your browser (with the help of the relay services described in the Privacy Policy) fetches the public page you asked about and extracts factual details like the posting date, job title, and company name. It does not log into anything on your behalf and does not access content that requires a password.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
We don't promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or available at any particular time, or that any result it produces is accurate, complete, or current. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without notice.
This is the most important thing to understand about the tool: the dates it shows are best-effort estimates, not authoritative records. They are inferred from third-party data that is often incomplete, inconsistent, or itself approximate. In particular:
You direct the tool, and you are responsible for how you use it. By using the Service, you agree that:
The Service is intended for ordinary, individual, interactive use. To keep it available and well-behaved for everyone, you agree not to:
We offer a separate public REST API and MCP server (at mcp.whenthisjobwasposted.com) for programmatic and AI-tool integrations. If you need automated or higher-volume access, use that documented interface — see Connect — rather than scripting the website. We may rate-limit, block, or discontinue access to anyone who breaches this section, without notice.
We are an independent project. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any job board, applicant-tracking system, employer, or other company whose name, listing, or service may appear in or be referenced by the Service.
All product names, logos, brands, and trademarks (for example, the various applicant-tracking systems and job sites the tool can read) are the property of their respective owners. They are used only for identification and descriptive purposes, and their use does not imply any affiliation or endorsement.
The Service reads from, links to, and relays requests through third-party websites and services — including the job listings you check, the relay/proxy and rendering services listed in our Privacy Policy, and public web archives. We do not control those third parties, do not endorse them, and are not responsible for their content, availability, accuracy, or practices. Your use of any third-party site or service is governed by that party's own terms and policies.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of opportunities, profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of — or inability to use — the Service, or your reliance on any result it produces, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
To the extent any liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us to use it — which, for this free Service, is zero. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you; in that case, the limitations apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.
You agree to indemnify and hold the operator harmless from any claim arising out of your misuse of the Service or your breach of these Terms.
The Service is free. If you choose to support it through the optional donation widget, that donation is voluntary, is processed entirely by a third-party provider (Ko-fi) under its own terms, and is generally non-refundable. A donation does not create any account, entitlement, service-level commitment, or obligation on our part, and does not change these Terms.
We may update, add to, or remove features of the Service at any time as it evolves. We may also revise these Terms; when we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and for material changes we'll make the update more prominent. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms. If you don't agree with a change, please stop using the Service.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and the operator regarding the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect, and the unenforceable provision will be applied to the maximum extent permitted by law. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a transfer of the Service.
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at the operator's place of establishment, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence provide you greater protection, in which case those apply.
